Mont Ventoux

Ride the Legendary Mont Ventoux and explore the Dentelles de Montmirail.

Mont Ventoux, although geologically part of the Alps, is often considered to be separate from them due to the lack of mountains of a similar height nearby. It stands alone to the north of the Luberon range separated by the Monts de Vaucluse and just to the east of the Dentelles de Montmirail, its foothills. The mountains barren upper slopes have engineered both victory and tragedy in equal measure through cycling history.

This weekend provides you the opportunity to test your self on  the ascent of the Mont Ventoux and explore the lower foothills of the mountain. "its a tough mountain, a really stiff challenge, probably the most difficult climb in France" Lance Armstrong 2002 Dauphine'.

Friday - Arrive in Marseille

Arrive at Marseille Airport in the afternoon, where you will be met and driven by private transfer to our base near Malaucene

Saturday - Tour du Mont Ventoux -135km

After  breakfast and final bike check we will set off on a beautiful circuit along the roads of the Dentelles de Montmiral and climbs of the Col de Fontaube, Col des Aires, Col de Notre-Dame des Abeilles returning via the Col de la Madeleine. The ride will be professionally guided with dedicated support from our team car.

Sunday - Mont Ventoux -102km

After breakfast and a quick warm-up ride we will climb the Mont Ventoux from Bedoin (21.5km average gradient 7.5%) which is the approach used in the Tour de France. From the summit we will descend to Sault and continue in the direction of Flassan through the spectacular Gorges de la Nesque with a gradual descent for 22km. From Flassan we will take a number of small roads winding through lavender fields back to our base near Malaucene.

NOTE: Recommended inbound flight is with BA departing Gatwick 13.50 arriving Marseille 16.45 and outbound again with BA on Monday morning- departing Marseille at 10.10am. If you need to return Sunday evening there will be the option to ride Mont Ventoux and return direct to the hotel (shorter ride) for the BA flight departing 17.20. The price for the two night option is £495.00
